12-Step Support in Ohio

The 12 Steps are well known throughout the world. For many, this program has helped them achieve long-term recovery from addiction to alcohol or other drugs. The 12 Steps are based on basic principles, including a focus on community. Working to maintain continued recovery can be difficult; but by participating in support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and Narcotics Anonymous (NA), you can get the support you need to have a healthy recovery.

Local Resources

If you have finished professional treatment, you will be given an aftercare plan that will help you transition out of a treatment setting. If you are recovering from drug and/or alcohol addiction, that plan will probably encourage you to participate in AA or NA meetings within your community.

These meetings will connect you to others who are also recovering from addiction. You can share your experiences with substance abuse, as well as listen to the experiences of others. This can help you develop positive coping skills and strong self-worth, making recovery a possibility.

If you’re living within the Ohio area, you have many options for 12-Step programming near you. Each meeting is different, as some might be open while others might be closed, however there are enough meetings available that you are sure to find one that meets your needs. For Loved Ones

When your parent, spouse, or friend is struggling with drug and/or alcohol addiction, you likely feel emotionally drained and upset. You might even feel that there is nothing left that you can possibly do to help him or her. Thankfully, you do not have to go through this by yourself.

There are 12-Step support groups available for you to attend so that you can connect with others in your community who are going through similar experiences. Like AA and NA meetings, 12-Step programming options like Alateen and Al-anon are available so you can speak your mind and listen to the insights of others to better cope with your loved one’s addiction.

Making the Most of Meetings

When you decide on which meetings are best for you, it is important to start participating in them as much as possible to receive the greatest benefit. Those who are living in the Ohio area have succeeded by attending 12-Step meetings, and you can, too. When you’re ready in your own recovery, you can offer support to others.
